James Patrick Caviezel was born on September 26, 1968, in Mount Vernon, Washington. With an intense passion for sports, Jim excelled in basketball and dreamed of playing in the NBA but a foot injury during college ended his athletic aspirations.
Inspired to pursue acting, Jim moved to Los Angeles and worked as a waiter while auditioning for roles. His breakthrough came with “The Thin Red Line” (1998), followed by “Frequency” (2000) and fan-favorite “The Count of Monte Cristo” (2002). However, his performance in Mel Gibson’s “Passion of the Christ” (2004) as Jesus Christ brought him international acclaim.
Jim’s career continued to flourish with the lead role in the CBS crime drama “Person of Interest” (2011-2016), making it one of the highest-rated shows on television. Known for his foundational Catholic beliefs, he often chooses roles that align with those values. Off screen, Jim lives with is wife Kerri whom he married in 1996, and their three adopted children.
